Rio Carnival 2027 tickets: how to buy as a tourist
Find your night at the Sambadrome, understand the price and arrive with your booking and entry sorted.
Want a night at the Sambadrome? Start with these three choices:
- On a budget: Série Ouro had full-price tickets listed at R$45–65. It is Rio's second-tier samba-school competition, at the same Sambadrome.
- Want Grupo Especial? Its official page marked standard grandstands, individual chairs and frisas sold out when checked.
- Want hospitality? The same official hub links to camarotes, with their own prices, availability and inclusions.
A Sambadrome night puts you beside the floats, costumes and samba schools that make Rio Carnival famous. Choose the parade first: a Saturday grandstand ticket, a six-person box and a hospitality package can be very different purchases.
Checked on 18 October 2026. Displayed options are not reservations. Historical release prices are labelled below; availability can change before checkout.
Choose your Carnival night first
The main Sambadrome parades take place at Marquês de Sapucaí, also called the Sambódromo. Check both the date and the competition before comparing prices.
| Parade | Dates in February 2027 | What you are booking |
|---|---|---|
| Série Ouro | Friday 5 and Saturday 6 | Rio's second-tier competition, with its own samba schools and ticket sales |
| Grupo Especial | Sunday 7, Monday 8 and Tuesday 9 | The top competition, with different schools on each night |
| Champions’ Parade | Saturday 13 | The return of the six highest-placed Grupo Especial schools |
Dates come from Liga RJ's Série Ouro calendar, LIESA's competitive-night announcement and Riotur's Champions’ Parade information.
If you want Grupo Especial, a ticket for Saturday 6 February is the wrong purchase. It is a Série Ouro night. Saturday 13 February is the Champions’ Parade.
A single-night ticket covers its named date and product. The earlier Passaporte Rio Carnaval covered three competitive nights, but that was a separate limited sale. A Sambadrome ticket is also separate from Rio's street Carnival and other parties around the city.
What tickets can you still buy?
Start with the official pages, then check the specific date and sector. ESGOTADO means sold out; INGRESSOS leads to tickets; EM BREVE means coming soon.
For a lower-cost Sambadrome night: check Série Ouro
When checked, the official even-side selector displayed full-price options at R$45, R$55 and R$65, depending on night, sector and price tier. For example, sector 2 on Friday 5 February showed R$45, while sector 6 showed R$65. Saturday 6 February also had full-price rows displayed.
These were selectable listings, not completed reservations. Choose Inteira for full price; a cheaper Meia-entrada row requires accepted eligibility proof. Official Série Ouro grandstands.
If your travel dates include these nights, check this option before assuming a hospitality package is your only way in.
For Grupo Especial: compare official hospitality or watch for a confirmed release
The official hub links to individual camarotes, or hospitality areas. Compare the actual product: food, drinks, transfer, check-in and viewing arrangements vary.
One checked example was Folia Tropical on 7 February, with a R$3,380 lot-one listing in its public selector. Its parade-night description includes food, an open bar and transfer arrangements. The same page also sells January rehearsal visits with different inclusions, so check the session carefully. This is one example, not the lowest available hospitality price. Folia Tropical listing.
LIESA has announced a future sale for the popular grandstands in sectors 12 and 13. A current sale date and 2027 price were not established in the official notices reviewed. Follow a new dated announcement rather than assuming another release is guaranteed on your preferred night. LIESA's sale notice.
Understand the ticket price before comparing offers
These are the September official release prices, not promises of tickets available now:
| Ticket | Full-price basis | What to notice |
|---|---|---|
| Grupo Especial special grandstand | R$250 per person, per night | Sectors 2–11, excluding 9, in that release |
| Sector 12 individual chair | R$250 per person, per night | A numbered chair, distinct from the popular grandstands |
| Frisa | R$1,835–10,200 per six-person box, per night | The advertised amount buys the box, not one seat |
All prices here are in Brazilian reais (BRL). The checked Série Ouro and Grupo Especial grandstand pages state no online service fee. Your card's currency conversion or other payment-provider charges are separate; review the final checkout total.
Choose a grandstand for a view from the stands, a numbered chair for a specific seat, or a frisa for a six-place box near the parade route. A frisa does not automatically include food and drinks.
The R$125 headline price is half price, subject to eligibility. A foreign university card is not automatically sufficient: accepted student documentation is required at purchase and entry. Confirm your eligibility before choosing Meia-entrada. Student proof requirements.
The Champions’ Parade was also advertised at R$250 for a standard grandstand or individual chair. It is not automatically a cheaper ticket. Riotur's price announcement.
The checked Série Ouro and Grupo Especial grandstand tickets are named and non-transferable. Do not buy somebody else's ticket expecting to rename it. For a separate package, confirm the date, sector, price per person, currency, inclusions, delivery and cancellation terms, and how the seller can validly admit you. A seller's listing alone does not override the event's restrictions.
Follow the official buying route
For Grupo Especial, begin at Rio Carnaval's ticket hub and follow its Ticketmaster link. For Série Ouro, use the dedicated Ticketmaster page, as identified by organizer Liga RJ.
Once you have an account, follow this purchase checklist:
- Open the official event and select your date. Check Série Ouro, Grupo Especial or Champions carefully.
- Choose the sector and quantity. Where offered, select your seats or use the available seating option.
- Select Inteira for full price, or only a discount category you can prove. Select the offered delivery method and review the total.
- Confirm the selection to reserve it temporarily, then pay using an accepted method within the displayed deadline.
- Check for the approved order in Meus Pedidos (my orders) and save the confirmation. Selection alone does not secure a ticket.
Ticketmaster's purchase walkthrough explains the available seating flows. Check the web address before paying; avoid private-message payment requests or promises of a ticket screenshot.
For a direct Ticketmaster Pix checkout, its security guidance identifies the beneficiary as TICKETMASTER BRASIL LTDA, CNPJ 42.789.521/0001-10. Verify that inside your payment app. A Pix-only checkout is not by itself proof of fraud: the official September frisa sale specifically required Pix. Ticketmaster's Pix security guidance.
Can tourists register without a CPF?
Ticketmaster provides a foreign-document registration route. Its help page allows an identity document for foreigners, and the public form exposes Passaporte and Outros when an overseas residence is selected. International phone prefixes are available too. Ticketmaster registration guidance.
Prepare your account before a busy release:
- Open Entrar / Cadastre-se, then the create-account option.
- Enter your genuine country of residence. If it is not individually listed, look for Outros, meaning other.
- Select the appropriate foreign-document type and enter your own details.
- Use a telephone number and email you can access during the trip.
- Complete the email verification and check that you can sign in.
The account holder must be an adult. The passport option does not guarantee approval. If the form rejects your document, contact Ticketmaster support, using your own details.
Ticketmaster's default two-factor authentication uses email, with an authenticator-app alternative. A Brazilian SMS number is not a universal requirement in its published instructions. Corporate and student email filters can delay codes, so sort access before a sale opens. Two-factor authentication guidance.
Pay with the method accepted for your ticket
The Grupo Especial payment FAQ accepts foreign-issued credit cards without instalments, subject to checks. It requires account details related to the card's issuing country. If that differs from your real residence or your card is rejected, ask Ticketmaster support how to proceed. Debit is not listed as accepted.
The September frisa sale was Pix-only. Standard grandstands and chairs could use the methods available on the platform. Follow the conditions for the exact product and release. September payment conditions.
The payment and Ticketmaster account must belong to the same person. Another person's card or Pix is not allowed. Ticketmaster's payer rule. Tucu's compatibility with this ticket checkout has not been confirmed; use the seller's accepted methods for your booking.
For Pix, the event gives up to ten minutes after generating the code. Do not schedule it or pay an expired code. A fresh attempt depends on remaining availability. Pix timing rules.
If payment produces an error or no confirmation, inspect Meus Pedidos before paying again. A payment-app receipt is not the ticket itself. Order confirmation policy.
Get your ticket ready for entry
Follow the delivery method attached to your purchase. A digital ticket, a wristband and a hospitality check-in can involve different steps.
Digital tickets in Quentro
For a ticket delivered through Quentro, use the same email as your Ticketmaster purchase. Once the organizer releases it, open the order in Meus Pedidos to activate the link, then sign into Quentro with that email.
Load your ticket while you have internet; once stored, it works offline. Its QR code changes, so a screenshot or printout will not work. Quentro's transfer feature does not override this event's non-transferable grandstand terms. Current Quentro instructions.
Frisa wristbands: the latest correction
On 16 October 2026, LIESA confirmed that September frisa purchases would be converted into wristbands collected before the event. It explicitly removed the requirement for all occupants to attend collection together, despite that instruction appearing on Ticketmaster.
Occupant data collection and pickup arrangements were still pending. This changes group collection, not resale or renaming rights. Check the final instructions before planning collection around your arrival. LIESA's latest frisa notice.
Before you book the rest of the night
Keep these checks with your booking:
- Your identity and ticket holder: retain your order and bring the accepted original photo ID. Check the named-ticket rules for everyone attending.
- Children: check the chosen product's current age and guardian requirements. Grandstand and hospitality pages use different wording; do not assume a child enters free or without documents.
- Accessibility: confirm an appropriate place and access route before paying. The grandstand page identifies accessible areas and recommends booking the disabled visitor and companion in the same order.
- Arrival and return: follow the confirmed gate and current transport instructions. The checked grandstand listing still left gate opening and start times to be defined.
- Your phone: charge it, load the ticket beforehand and keep email access available. Our Brazil eSIM guide explains connectivity preparation.
Know the cancellation rules before paying
Ticketmaster's published online process allows a cancellation request within seven calendar days, excluding purchase day. For purchases made seven days or less before the event, it states a cutoff of 48 hours before the event.
Open the order in Meus Pedidos, select Solicitar Reembolso and complete the request. Keep the cancellation confirmation. Its stated refund timing is up to ten working days for Pix and up to two statement cycles for credit cards, depending on the issuer. Online cancellation and refund instructions.
Refunds go through the original payment method. Separate package, hotel and travel bookings have their own conditions; cancelling a ticket does not unwind the whole trip. Purchase and refund policy.
Frequently asked questions
Can I buy just one seat in a frisa?
The official September sale sold whole six-place boxes. An individual place from another seller is a separate arrangement: confirm valid admission and wristband delivery before paying. The October collection correction does not authorize resale or guarantee a name change.
How many tickets can I buy for a group?
Limits depend on the release and product. September's Grupo Especial notice allowed two standard tickets per buyer per parade. The checked Série Ouro page states a four-ticket total across the selected dates. Follow the rules for your actual purchase rather than an older generic FAQ, and never use false accounts to bypass a limit.
